Bread and Soup
Becky painted this painting for a show held in the gallery at our retirement community on the subject of food. The floor was an experiment. The bird and sunflower came from a photograph taken by another resident. The chicken soup tureen, tablecloth, and table made by Becky’s father have been in her family since she was a child. (oil on canvas, 24” x 24”).
Life & Death
Spring in Seattle is glorious. This painting tries to capture the profusion of blossoms that exceed all boundaries. If you look closely, you can see that the branches form the shape of a skull behind the blossoms, a recognition that spring, like life, lasts only a short time. (Oil on board, 24” h x 18” w)
Nighttime Reflections
This is a view from our balcony at night. Through the glass door and windows reflections bounce this way and that. Becky sought to capture both the real images and the reflected images in the same painting. (Oil on canvas, 39”h x 24” w)
